Process Improvement
Transfer Engineering and process optimization are our core competencies. We define, specify and demonstrate improvements to the manufacturing process. We evaluate and recommend the appropriate suppliers for key components and services. COG Engineering provides cost effective, critical and practical thinking from the manufacturing engineering perspective, resulting in qualified assembly techniques and reliable vendor relationships.
Expertise
We have transferred and optimized a wide variety of products including photonic connectors, depth finders, laparoscopes and catheters. COG Engineering draws on its experience in manufacturing engineering to develop cogent plans for rapid design transfer while minimizing risks and maximizing efficiency.
Capabilities
Our team will be at home in your environment, working with R&D Engineers to understand critical aspects of your products' designs and components. We can evaluate your design, materials and risks. COG Engineering will highlight potential quality issues, evaluate suppliers, recommend design and process modifications and create specific tooling for manufacturing. With a history in medical device, defence technologies, and retail electronics manufacturing, we understand your requirements and can provide the documentation and training you need to launch and ramp up with great confidence.

Success Stories
A $3 billion developer of advanced wireless technologies contacted us in search of potting materials with specific and unusual technical requirements. As we discussed their performance requirements it became clear that they needed more than materials. As experts of wireless and defence technologies they new how to design the electronic components and assemblies to meet their customer's requirements, but they needed help to develop their assembly process. Their customer and the device's function were completely confidential. Without knowing all the details of their design COG Engineering helped them to define the requirements for assembly, packaging, dispensing, thermal transfer and shock resistance. Using solid models of their printed circuit boards and outside package dimensions we produced SLA models and tested several conductive epoxies from EMI UV as well as others. We not only tested the materials for flow characteristics, electrical insulation, shock resistance and heat transfer but we were able to use the SLA parts to develop and define a repeatable dispensing and assembly process. Based on our report this customer was able to select a material and produce working products for testing and delivery to their customer. COG Engineering worked closely with engineers and provided detailed training on the assembly process, materials and equipment. Once this knowledge was transferred, our customer was able to take the reigns and deliver on their commitments to their customer.
